Personal Statement from Cassie: “First and foremost, I believe sports are a great character-builder for youth of all ages. Coaching at the foundational level, I always want to place a major focus on having FUN while building up every player’s athletic “character”: instilling a trust in teamwork, growing work ethic, learning the value of fairness and hard work. The 11s level sees tons of growth in player ability during the season, and I’m so excited to get to help start these athletes in their volleyball careers!”
High School & College Degrees: I attended Foothill High School in Redding, CA, and currently, I am pursuing a degree in Earth Science at UCSC.
High School Playing Experience: I played varsity volleyball for two years at Foothill, and was starting Libero and captain my senior year. We were NSCIF champs in 2015.
Club Playing Experience: I played for various small clubs from age 13 onwards, but my best club experience was with Chico Matrix playing Libero my final years of HS.
College Playing Experience: I currently am a member of the UCSC volleyball team, playing as a defensive specialist and setter. This past season was my second as a slug.
Beach Playing Experience: I’ve picked up a little beach since moving to Santa Cruz last fall, but my primary focus is indoor.
Coaching Experience: I’ve been coaching since I was 15 and I absolutely love being able to share the game. I coached 12s with North State Volleyball from 2014 to 2015. Last year, I was lucky to help out with Club Cruz Academy from October until April, and this past summer I spent a month as a Nike Volleyball Camp coach at UCSC coaching ages 10-17.
Profession: I’m currently a full-time student in my second year at UCSC. When I’m not in class or at practice, I love to hike and surf. I also run track for UCSC during the volleyball off-season.
Why Club Cruz?: Club Cruz has a ton of respect for every athlete in the program. They encourage me to be a better coach will always helping me balance work and my own season, practices, and games at UCSC.
